Open Hearts, Open Borders are sorting and storing donations to be shipped to Syria at Quickstore Saltash

Faraday Fearnside and her team at the refugee charity Open Hearts, Open Borders has been collecting donations of toiletries and warm clothing for Syrians stranded in refugee camps across Europe.
The charity is dedicated to campaigning for and helping refugees and these new donations come a little while after they filled a 40 foot container full of donations and shipped it to ‘The Jungle’ migrant camp in Calais.
Quickstore Saltash has been providing free warehouse space so that Open Hearts, Open Borders and their volunteers can sort and store any donations coming from Cornwall. The majority of the donated toiletries and clothes were brought to Quickstore Saltash on Saturday 2nd April but you can still donate to the cause until the end of April.

St Luke’s Accumulator Challenge at QuickStore Saltash a great success

You may remember that in October QuickStore Saltash undertook the St Luke’s Accumulator Challenge in an attempt to turn £50 of capital into their target of £200!

RX8-car-washThe team dove straight in by hosting car washes, a bake sale, and asking visitors and business centre tenants to take part in the lollipop challenge! QuickStore Saltash also opted to ask for a small donation in return for using coffee capsules at the offices, which are usually free of charge.

In the end, after their hard work and dedication, the team managed to turn just £21 of the initial £50 into an absolutely fantastic £370.20! We couldn’t be more proud of the team and we’re thrilled knowing that the funds raised will be going to St Lukes Hospice who are an outstanding local charity that carry out inspiring work.lollipop-challenge

St Luke’s Hospice fundraising events with QuickStore Saltash

st-luke's-hospice-accumulator-challengeSt Luke’s Hospice’s latest fundraising venture is in the form of the Accumulator Challenge. The charity have given business minds across the South West £50 as a start-up float to raise as much as they can! St Luke’s has been encouraging people to walk, run, fundraise, support, auction, raffle, and bake their £50 into a larger sum so QuickStore Saltash has got involved on the action!

They’ll be hosting 2 carwashes on the 9th and 23rd of October in which patrons are encouraged to make a suitable donation in order for the team to leave you with a gleaming motor! On Friday 2nd October they’ll be asking you “how many lollipops are in the tub?” in their fiercely competitive lollipop challenge!

Friday 16th October is the rag-bag collection so people are being encouraged to bring in their old, possibly stained and even ripped, clothing so they can send it off for recycling!

There’s also going to be a highly anticipated bake sale on Friday 30th October so make sure you get yourself down to QuickStore Saltash to get your hands on some tasty little weekend treats – all for a donation to the St Luke’s Hospice cause of course!

Find out what you can do to aid St Luke’s or contact the QuickStore Saltash team for further details!

QuickStore Saltash on the 2015 Saltash Regatta weekend

As you may remember last year’s Saltash Regatta was an absolute hit with great weather and a bustling crowd. This year was no different! The sun was shining on Saturday and the locals were out in full force to show their support for the great event.

QuickStore Saltash was once again a main sponsor of the weekend and that meant we heartily accepted a place in the Regatta race! Last year we finished respectably in the semi-finals however the ‘QuickStore Quickies’ weren’t as quick this time. It was a few metres forward and a few metres back as one of our team members was rowing backwards!

Despite our defeat in the race we had a fantastic weekend sharing a stand with the Saltash Lions, who we also sponsor. The day was fun for all and we even managed to make some new business contacts. We look forward to the next Regatta and seeing you all there!

Saltash Lions sponsored by Quickstore Saltash

Lions_International-logo-61A0ACEC28-seeklogo_comQuickstore Saltash are once again thrilled to be sponsoring the Saltash Regatta! The 2-day festival is always an absolute pleasure to attend as a main event in the Cornwall calendar. From street entertainers to jazz bands and delicious foods on both days, the Regatta is certainly not a day to be missed. Especially when it’s all in support of RNLI Lifeboats, something that is a necessity for the Devon and Cornwall coast!

Quickstore Saltash is a ‘silver sponsor’ for the Regatta and every year we make an appearance at the festival too! This year we’ll be sharing a stall with Saltash Lions Club, one of the Saltash Regatta’s main partners. They are the Saltash division of Lions Club International, an organisation that is full of men and women who volunteer their time for humanitarian causes.

We’ve recognised this great organisation and their contributions toward the Saltash Regatta and Quickstore Saltash is happy to be supporting the Saltash Lions by giving them free storage over the Regatta weekend. All of their equipment will be stored safely and securely.

We look forward to seeing the Saltash Lions Club and some of you at the Regatta weekend!

Tamar Business Network celebrates its 1st birthday

There’s exciting news for Quickstore Saltash as the Tamar Business Network has just celebrated its 1st birthday! Our official birthday network meeting was a great success with laughter, fun, goodie bags, and of course, a birthday cake!

Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting last week and a huge thank you to all of those that have attended the meetings throughout the past year – you’ve all helped to make the Tamar Business Network the success that it is today.

Our great network group managed to raise £80 for the Devon & Cornwall Food Association from both individual contributions and the cost of breakfast, with Jackie Young kindly coming along to accept our donations.

Peter Stackhouse from Stackhouse Design left the breakfast with the highly coveted prize of our free business cards in our monthly draw. We’d like to thank X-Press Legal and their representatives who attended, James & Liz, for their contributions to the successful meeting.

Invitations are soon to be sent out for the next meeting, which will be held on Thursday 25th June at 7:30am (the following meeting will be Thursday 30th July at 7:30am). Here at Quickstore we hope you have a productive month and Julie and Ann are already looking forward to the seeing everybody at the end of June. If you’re interested in attending this fantastic business networking opportunity, click here to contact Julie.

Saltash sponsoring Circus Starr’s latest tour

Quickstore Saltash are extremely happy to be sponsoring Circus Starr, the circus with a purpose, on its latest UK tour. Circus Starr run three UK tours a year and it’s all part of their journey to help vulnerable children to forget about their troubles for a day.circus-starr-logo-quickstore

The circus was first founded in 1987 and is a not-for-profit organisation aiming to support children’s charities in the UK. The Circus operates a ‘donated ticket programme’ so that thousands of disadvantaged children can experience the joy of their world-class, professional circus acts thanks to the generosity of others. Every year thanks to this kindness, mainly from local businesses, they’re able to give over £1.3 million worth of free tickets to children, their families and the community groups that support them. Circus Starr currently work with over 70 charities up and down the UK and have donated over £900,000 in the past 12 years.

We have been in contact with Circus Starr regularly and have arranged a sponsorship package with them. We’re so proud to be sponsoring this event as they’re sponsoring the same charity that we support often – Children’s Hospice South West. Centre Manager Julie Mazzoni said: “They have given children with disabilities the chance to run away to the circus and forget their troubles for a day – this is exactly what the hospice is all about so I had no hesitation at all in sponsoring the show.”

Get in touch with Circus Starr to see how you can help or contact Quickstore Saltash for more information on this event and the charity being sponsored, Children’s Hospice South West.
