Quickstore Plymouth customer K9 Magic Meals grows their business with increased self storage

k9-magic-mealsQuickstore Plymouth customers Michelle and Adrian are the owners of K9 Magic Meals. After a very successful year in 2016 they’ve had to invest in a new, larger van and they’ve also increased the size of their storage unit with us.

The company supplies Simpsons Premium Dog Food and they’ve been going from strength to strength taking online orders and delivering 7 days a week too. Michelle recently said: “My business wouldn’t run nearly as smoothly if it wasn’t for Quickstore Plymouth. I don’t know how I’d manage without them.”

Quickstore Plymouth would like to wish K9 Magic Meals a successful 2017 and thank them for their continued custom.

You can find K9 Magic Meals on Twitter and on Facebook or learn more about them from their website.

Third Space Group invite you to attend The Red House open-house to learn about ‘co-working’ office spaces

Third Space Group has provided us with the following article about the growth of office space within self storage facilities. Take advantage of the FREE pop-up co-working experience at The Red House to see if office space within a self storage facility could work for you. See the below article for more information.

third-space-groupThe Self Storage Association UK Annual Survey 2016 revealed a massive growth in office space within self storage facilities (29% in 2014 and 49% in 2015). Data on 435 facilities was collected during January and February 2016 (a total of circa 37.6 million sq ft of storage space).
Flexible office space, also known as serviced office, has been a resilient business over the years and now a new trend is emerging known as “co working” which may change the perception that this is a short term office solution to one that could become a permanent decision for a business. Co working promises a cross selling and collaborative environment for businesses and not private offices with unknown neighbours.
A pop up co working experience is taking place at RIBA 2016 award winning building The Red House (aka Plymouth School of Creative Arts) between 25 July – 26 August. The first day on Monday 25 July is free so there are no barriers to finding out how co working works. Revenue over the 5 week period is going to a good cause and being shared with the school and Devon/Cornwall business are encouraged to try it out, possibly as a corporate retreat for a hard working team within your business. This opportunity would also be ideal for any business relocating office and requiring short term office and self storage. Register to attend.

Quickstore Plymouth to take part in 26-mile sail race for Polycystic Kidney Disease Charity

sam-pkdAutosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD) occurs in 1 in every 20,000 babies and affects kidney and liver function. The disease can cause all sorts of problems such as underdeveloped lungs, problematic liver blood flow and a progressive loss of kidney function; sadly QuickStore Plymouth’s Sam has 2 lovely children who are both affected.

To help raise funds and awareness, Sam will join other first-time sailors on a 26 mile round-trip race out into the perils of the English Channel in order to raise money for the Polycystic Kidney Disease Charity on June the 18th. “I’m trying to raise as much as I can to combat this awful disease, the goal is currently set at £500 but we really hope to considerably beat that”.

We would love for you to help us exceed our target for this event! You can read more and donate on our JustGiving page or you can text ‘PKDC86 £1′ to 70070 to donate just £1 to our cause. Thank you in advance for your support.

Relief charity Open Hearts, Open Borders fill 40 ft container to aid refugees this winter

Open Hearts, Open Borders, the charity campaigning for and helping refugees in the current political climate, has been collecting donations of toiletries and warm clothing for Syrians stranded in various refugee camps. DS Smith kindly donated boxes for all the items to be packed and transported in whilst Quickstore Plymouth provided extra packaging materials, storage, and forklifting.

The toiletries and clothes were sent on Monday 15th February inside a 40 foot container filled with 24 pallets. 6 weeks of donations and working around the clock proved fruitful as the container was full to the brim. Weeks of fundraising events and efforts coordinated by the relief charity also proved their worth with £3000 being donated to the camps too.

Organised and founded by Faraday Fearnside, to the right in the image below, the Open Hearts, Open Borders charity was founded as Faraday recognised the challenges and tough living conditions that refugees face. After filling the container the team stopped for a brief interview with Spotlight News as they filmed with Faraday and the team.

Quickstore Plymouth aids Cornwall & Plymouth Furniture Re-Use Project

Local furniture reuse charity Furniture Re-Use Project is a not-for-profit community-focussed business run from Plymouth. The project has the aim of supporting people with disadvantages in their life by helping them to furnish their homes with quality second hand items.

Quickstore Plymouth happily helped the Cornwall & Plymouth Furniture Re-Use Project by aiding customers that were donating items. Some customers don’t have room for items of furniture when they move house so it’s good to know that somebody else will be making good use of it.

As well as accepting cash donations, members of the public or businesses can donate any unwanted furniture in good condition. Working appliances like fridges, freezers, washing machines, and cookers can be collected by the Furniture Re-Use Project if they’re compliant with regulations.

You can organise a free-of-charge collection or organise a drop-off donation by contacting the charity here.

QuickStore Plymouth renovation plans approved for the new year

QuickStore Plymouth has just been granted final planning permission for a major refurbishment of the site. Beginning in January, the new year will see the work start in two phases, minimising impact on customers.

The first phase will see brand new 24-hour PIN code access installed throughout our facility and new internal units too. To modernise the Plymouth store and bring it up to date we’re also putting in new ceilings and lighting.

The second phase of the refurbishment will feature a pretty big building task where the front of the building will be entirely reconfigured. Included will be a large glass atrium to the front elevation and a much larger reception room to accommodate customers and staff members.

View the full building plans here, or get in touch with us if you have any questions.
