Operation Christmas Child

admin-ajax

We’re collecting Christmas shoeboxes again this year and here’s why we do it:

In 1990 Dave Cooke, a father of four from Wrexham, North Wales, saw the horror of abandoned children in Romanian orphanages on TV news and asked friends to help fill a truck with toys and drive it to Romania. Overwhelming response from local people at the time helped to raise £60,000 and Operation Christmas Child established as a charity.

In 2009 1,189,547 shoeboxes sent to 14 countries from the UK and we’re all working hard to volunteer our services to make it even better this year.

You can get a lot of information from the main website http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/ including videos and advice on what to put into your box.

Drop off your filled shoeboxes at any Quickstore centre but you have to get it to us by the 18th of November as they have to be shipped on time for Christmas. It really is a wonderful thing for those children less fortunate than ours and people love to get involved.

If you’re still not sure how it all works please watch this:
